New Firmware Updates Version 1.40 for Nikon Z7 II & Z6 II

In addition to the Nikon Z9 firmware version 2.0, Nikon also announced the new firmware version 1.40 for Nikon Z7 II and Nikon Z6 II mirrorless cameras.

The Nikon Z7 II & Z6 II firmware version 1.40 will be available for download from Nikon Download Centre on April 20th. Please visit the Nikon Download Centre to download the Firmware v.1.4 for the Z 7II and the Firmware v.1.4 for the Z 6II.

Improved Auto-Area AF: better detection of, and focus on, foreground subjects in the centre of the frame.
Support for linear manual focusing
: videographers can accurately reproduce the focus pull distance from points A to B.
Compatibility with Nikon’s ML-L7 Bluetooth remote control: 
allows control of key camera functions when shooting remotely. Boasts separate buttons for shutter release and video recording.

Upgrades for the Nikon Z6 II and Z7 II
In addition, firmware version 1.40 for the Nikon Z7 II and Z6 II has improved AF performance. This update will enhance the stability of the AF, preventing the focus point from unintentionally moving to the background. The ability to emulate linear focus with select lenses will also be added while manually focusing4, so that users can smoothly adjust the focus position as intended with an operational feeling similar to cinema lenses. This firmware update also supports the ML-L7 Remote Control (Released in September 2018).
